4th of July

We had a little bit of rain, but it was nothing we couldn't handle!

The girls had tons of fun dancing to the music.

We went to see The BFG.  We had just finished reading the book and enjoyed the movie.

Our home fireworks were fun to set off.

Our Summer Solstice Celebration

We decided to celebrate the summer solstice for the first time this year.  We read some books about it from the library and learned about some of the ancient traditions.  We had a fire and wrote some wishes and thoughts for the remainder of the year.  We each threw our papers into the fire.  We collected some rocks from the river and painted them to celebrate the longest day of the year.  (We got some extra ones to smash with a hammer just because we thought it'd be cool.)  I made strawberry cake, and it was delicious!
